Jackson County Authorities Investigating Shooting of Teenager

NEWPORT, AR - The Newport Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old boy which occured Tuesday night at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The shooting occured in the area of State and Daughtery streets.  The victim has not been identified, but is described as a Newport resident, and is hospitalized in Little Rock with a gunshot wound to the head.

The city of Newport is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting.  Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call the Newport Police Department at 523-2722.
