Marmaduke, AR -- American Railcar Industry plans on building a 200-thousand square foot plant alongside their existing plant in Marmaduke. Construction on the new plant is set to begin later this year. The plant is expected to cost almost 28 million dollars and open up nearly 250 jobs.

"We have a plants in Missouri and Paragould. When we saw how successful the one in Paragould was, we decided to expand into Marmaduke. Now here at Marmaduke we have the opportunity to build a new tank car plant."

The plant in Paragould builds hopper cars, we usually see them carrying coal. Marmaduke hopes to double their tank car production because of new products out on the market.

"There's a need in the market for tank cars, mainly because the new ethanol products they are coming out with."

The new plant will be able to produce over 2500 cars annually.
