WALNUT RIDGE, AR - Williams Baptist College has announced a gift of $400,000 from the estate of Judge Edward and Kathryn Maddox of Harrisburg.  The gift will go into the college's permanent endowment.

"Edward and Kathryn Maddox were some of the most faithful friends Williams Baptist College has ever known.  The estate gift they leave behind assures their lasting legacy to Christian higher education," said WBC President Jerol Swaim.

Part of the estate will go toward expanding endowment of the Maddox Scholarship at WBC, which benefits students with financial need and strong academic background.

The rest of the gift will be used to establish the H.E. Williams Chair of Christian Ministries at the college.  The chair is to be named after WBC's founder and namesake.

Judge Maddox served for ten years on the WBC board of trustees, and he and his wife were longtime supporters of the institution.  The Maddox Fine Arts Center at Williams is named in their honor.
