President Bush to Headline August Fundraiser for Hutchinson

AUGUST 15, 2006 - Posted at 7:59 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A very big name in Republican politics will be the headliner for an August 30 fundraiser at Little Rock for Republican gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson.  An invitation to the event says it will feature President Bush.

The $500 per person luncheon is to be held at the home of former Razorback and NBA player Joe Kleine.

Neither Hutchinson's campaign nor the White House would confirm Bush's appearance at the fundraiser.  Hutchinson spokesman David Kinkade said today, however, that the former Congressman would welcome Bush's support, then referred questions to the White House.

White House spokesman Blair Jones would not confirm Bush's appearance.  She said no announcements had been made about the president's schedule that far in advance.

Attorney General Mike Beebe, who is Hutchinson's Democratic rival for governor, announced last week that former President Clinton would headline a fundraiser in North Little Rock on September 7.
