Bush: Foiled Bombing Plot Means U.S. Will be Fighting Terrorists for Years

McCLEAN, VA - Keeping in mind the plot to bomb U.S.-bound planes, President Bush today called fighting terrorism a battle against some very tough odds.

In his words, terrorists only have to get it right "one time."  But, to protect the American people, he says U.S. counterterror forces have to be right "100 percent of the time."

The president spoke today at the National Counterterrorism Center, just outside Washington.

Bush also cautioned that the British-foiled plot to attack trans-Atlantic jetliners shows the U.S. could be fighting terrorists for years to come.

As he put it, "America is safer than it has been, yet it is not yet safe."
