Paragould Passes Ordinance Banning Billboards

PARAGOULD, AR - Paragould leaders have passed an ordinance banning billboards.  Mayor Mike Gaskill says residents have long complained about the city's proliferation of billboards, so city leaders decided to do something about it.

The city council passed an ordinance Monday that regulates any new signs erected in the city.  It also bans all new billboards.

However, temporary signs indicating an event of public interest, like a fair or cattle or horse show, may be placed if a 30-day non-renewable permit is obtained.
