LITTLE ROCK, AR - The U.S. Department of Defense says an Army sergeant from Fouke has been killed by small-arms fire from insurgents in Iraq.
Kenneth Jenkins, 25, died from injuries he suffered in an altercation Saturday. His wife, Brandy, lives at Nolanville, Texas, near Fort Hood, where Jenkins had been stationed before shipping out to Iraq last November.
The death was the 43rd of a soldier with Arkansas roots in Iraq and Afghanistan, 40 in Iraq and three in Afghanistan.
Jenkins was assigned to the Third Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, Fourth Brigade Combat Team, Fourth Infantry Division.
Sergeant First Class Mary Glaze says Jenkins was killed by small-arms fire while conducting a checkpoint operation.
