Stuttgart Biodiesel Plant Plans to Quadruple Production

AUGUST 21, 2006 - Posted at 10:41 a.m. CDT

STUTTGART, AR - Patriot Biofuels, which makes biodiesel out of soybeans, chicken fat and other products, plans to quadruple its annual production.

Tommy Foltz, president of Patriot Biofuels, says the Stuttgart-based plant can now produce three million gallons of biofuel annually.  It plans to increase its production to 13 million gallons per year.

Last October, an Eastman Chemical Company plant near Batesville began production of biodiesel, but the Stuttgart plant is the state's first to be designed strictly for biodiesel.

Foltz says that by September, the plant will have sold one million gallons of biodiesel since it opened in April.
