LITTLE ROCK, AR - Supporters of a $250 million higher education package will officially form their campaign organization today and will start airing television ads statewide on September 11.

University of Central Arkansas President Lu Hardin says supporters of the bond issue on the November 7 ballot plan to file organizational papers with the state Ethics Commission today.

The campaign will be named Vote One for Arkansas College Students and will be chaired by Hardin, University of Arkansas system President B. Alan Sugg and Ed Franklin, executive director of the Arkansas Association of Two Year Colleges.

Hardin says the group will begin fundraising today and will receive contributions from the University of Arkansas and University of Central Arkansas foundations.

Hardin has said the campaign plans to raise at least $300,000.  Yesterday, he said the group would begin airing television ads statewide beginning September 11.

Earlier this month, Governor Huckabee announced he was placing the bond proposal on the November 7 general election ballot.
