WALNUT RIDGE, AR - The banners and posters that greeted students at Williams Baptist College earlier this month are serving to remind them of a milestone.

The private liberal arts school in Walnut Ridge celebrated its 65th anniversary with a brief ceremony this morning at the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Williams began as Southern Baptist College in the fall of 1941, in Pocahontas.  After a fire, the campus moved to Walnut Ridge five years later.  The school began offering bachelor's degrees in 1984, and changed its name to Williams Baptist in 1991, on its 50th anniversary.
