Region 8 Authorities in Two Counties Investigating Sex Crimes Against Children

AUGUST 30, 2006 - Posted at 4:04 p.m. CDT

MELBOURNE, AR - Izard County authorities are investigating complaints of sexual activity related to children.

Jerry Lee Kerr, 40, of Franklin, has been arrested after sheriff's deputies received complaints from the family of a 7-year-old boy.  Authorities say the child gave investigators detailed statements regarding several specific sexual acts involving Kerr and the victim.

Police say Kerr has since admitted to deviant sexual acts with the victim.  As many as 20 counts of felony sexual charges are expected to be filed against Kerr.

Meanwhile in the Missouri Bootheel, Dunklin County authorities have investigated an incident that has resulted in the filing of charges against 62-year-old Lonzo Britt of Cardwell.  Britt has been charged with two counts of first degree statutory sodomy.

Sheriff Bob Holder says the crimes occured against a child less than 12 years of age on or about August 12.
