LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Attorney General Mike Beebe and the state Democratic party are counting on the state's political native son to outdraw a sitting president as former President Clinton headlines a series of fundraisers today.
Clinton's fundraising swing includes two events for the Democratic gubernatorial nominee and one for Democratic attorney general candidate Dustin McDaniel of Jonesboro. Clinton's visit comes a week after President Bush helped raise at leats $400,000 for Beebe's Republican rival, Asa Hutchinson.
At least 1,000 people are expected to attend a $100 per person "fish and frog leg" fundraiser that Clinton will headline for Beebe at North Little Rock's Alltel Arena. Afterward, Clinton will also speak at a $1,000 per person gala for Beebe at the Statehouse Convention Center.
Clinton's stops also include the fundraiser for McDaniel this afternoon and a private reception for the Democratic party's coordinated campaign.
Both Beebe and Hutchinson wouldn't predict whether Clinton's visit would raise more money than Bush, who also helped raise $250,000 for the state GOP.
