Southeast Missouri Soldier Killed in Iraq

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - An 18-year-old soldier from southeast Missouri was killed in Iraq this week.

The Defense Department says Private First Class Jeremy Shank, of Jackson, Missouri, died Wednesday of wounds.  He was shot during a security patrol.

Shank was a member of the 25th Infantry Division's Second Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

He entered the Army in May 2005.

About 7,000 soldiers from the 25th Division deployed to Iraq in July.
