LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute has received a $3.9 million grant to continue studying what causes congenital heart problems and other birth defects.
The grant, from the National Institutes of Health, will be used to continue studies that began at Arkansas Children's Hospital six years ago. Researchers are trying to identify genetic and metabolic markers that indicate a woman may be more at risk of carrying a child with birth defects. Researchers will look at lifestyle, genetic and metabolic factors.
