LITTLE ROCK, AR - A disagreement between a state appeals court judge and the state judicial discipline commission awaits an Arkansas Supreme Court decision. The commission has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow concerning public comments made by Appeals Court Judge Wendell Griffin. The panel wants the hearing closed, and says that by law, the proceding must be private.
But Griffen has waived his rights to confidentiality and he wants the Supreme Court to rule that the hearing can be open to the public.
The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission says the hearing is a preliminary one as the commission evaluates the merits of the accusations against Griffen.
