LITTLE ROCK, AR - Republican gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson is proposing a program to reward Medicaid families when they make healthier decisions. The reward would come in the form of enhanced benefits. Hutchinson says participants in the program would have to agree to participate in health awareness classes, receive regular screenings and meet other requirements.
He also proposes the creation of an office of Arkansas Surgeon General to focus on promoting public health and wellness.
Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mike Beebe has said he would expand an Arkansas program that offers health coverage to uninsured workers by using money from the federal Earned Income Tax Credit.
