Boy Takes Stand in Sex Case Against Arkansas Teacher

SEPTEMBER 20, 2006 - Posted at 8:00 a.m. CDT

GREENWOOD, AR - A boy testified yesterday that he and his junior high school math teacher had sexual relations twice in early 2005, though his recollections were different in court from what he originally told police.

The victim had first said he and math teacher Deanna Bobo had sex twice at his home.  Bobo lawyer Shannon Foster pointed out a discrepancy and the boy said in court Tuesday that one encounter took place in Bobo's car at Lake Jack Nolan and a second took place at his home.

Bobo taught math at Raymond E. Wells Junior High School in Greenwood.  The boy's mother testified Monday that she found explicit text-message exchanges between the boy and Bobo on the family's home computer and contacted police.

The boy said the first encounter took place after he had attended church services one day.  He said Bobo drove him to the lake and the pair had sex in the back seat of her car.  Afterward, he said, the teacher took him back to church.

Bobo faces two counts of first degree sexual assault.  She has denied wrong-doing.
