Severe Weather Threat Continues in Region 8

SEPTEMBER 22, 2006 - Posted at 7:34 a.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR - Much of Region 8 has awakened to severe weather this morning, or at least the threat of it.

A tornado watch is in effect for all of eastern Arkansas until at least noon today.  A thunderstorm warning is currently in effect for Craighead and Greene counties.  Shortly before 7 a.m., a possible funnel system was spotted in the Sedgwick area, prompting a tornado warning to be issued for Lawrence County, but that warning expired at 7:15.

There are uncomfirmed reports of damage in some parts of Lawrence County, but a spokeswoman with the Lawrence County 911 Dispatch Center said there are no confirmed reports of damage, or a tornado touchdown.

K8 News will have more information on this fast-moving storm system as it becomes available.
