Tornadoes, Hail Reported in Region 8

POCAHONTAS, AR - Strong winds and rain are whipping through much of Region 8 and a tornado forced Randolph County residents inside as it blew through the area tonight.  The National Weather Service says the tornado was sighted 12 miles southwest of Ravenden, moving at 40 miles per hour.

Farther east, the high school football game at Pocahontas was postponed was canceled after everyone scurried inside because of the storm.  Power was knocked out in the Biggers and Reyno communities near the eastern border of the county and trees were knocked down.  Lightning crashed and hail pummeled the region.

A tornado was reported down in Nimmons in Clay County and east of Evening Shade in Sharp County, where a high school game at Cave City was also canceled.
