OTWELL, AR - The Craighead County Quorum Court is interested in using state grant money for improvements near the former Delta Rice mill in Otwell, recently purchased by a Texas company.
The Quorum Court meets tonight in Jonesboro to discuss the improvements and a $378,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Economic Development. Houston-based Harvest Rice Incorporated plans to invest up to $5 million in the mill and should bring at least 50 new jobs to the county once the mill is operating. The company acquired the mill off Highway 49 last spring.
