Huckabee May Seek Federal Assistance for Storm-Damaged Areas

SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 - Posted at 11:13 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The office of Governor Huckabee has been in touch with emergency officials about which counties may qualify for federal disaster assistance after bad storms during the weekend.

Heavy rain, hail and tornadoes hit parts of the state since Friday.  One person is known to be dead during the storm...a junior fireman who lost his life while trying to rescue others.  Also, a retired firefighter from Trumann is feared drowned.

Meanwhile, Huckabee asked Arkansans to pray for 16-year-old Christopher Bodkins, saying Bodkins died a hero.
