Huckabee Signs Disaster Declaration for Six Region 8 Counties

SEPTEMBER 27, 2006 - Posted at 7:27 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Huckabee has signed a disaster declaration for six Arkansas counties with damage from floods and tornadoes over the weekend.

Three people were killed as a result of the storms.

Huckabee's declaration makes available public assistance for Clay, Fulton, Izard, Lawrence, Randolph and Sharp counties.

The declaration also makes Clay, Fulton, Randolph, and Sharp counties eligible for individual assistance of up to $200,000 under the Individual Assistance Program of the Governor's Disaster Fund.  The funds will be available to provide supplemental disaster relief to individuals who qualify.

The storms included tornadoes, heavy rains and flooding in 14 northern Arkansas counties.  Homes, roads, bridges and crops were damaged.
