SEARCY, AR - A teacher's aide at a Searcy Elementary School has resigned in the wake of his arrest last week in a sting operation targeting Internet sex predators.

Blake Betts, 31, resigned from the Sidney Deener Elementary School yesterday after being arrested in Heber Springs on Saturday.  That's according to Searcy School District spokeswoman Jean Ann Bell.  Betts is charged with one count of stalking.

Police say a law officer posed as a teenage girl on the Internet and made plans to meet Betts, allegedly for sex.

Betts was released on bond.
