MEMPHIS, TN - The director who made the hit movie "Hustle and Flow" and the actor who starred in it will reunite for a new movie about the life of country music singer Charlie Pride.

The Commercial Appeal reports Terrance Howard will portray Pride in a deal expected to be signed by Paramount Pictures.

Memphis director Craig Brewer says one of the reasons he went after the movie is that much of it can be shot in Memphis.

While Pride achieved his fame in Nashville, he was born in Sledge, Mississippi.  He played for the old Memphis Red Socks of the Negro League and cut some records at the Sun studio in Memphis.
