LITTLE ROCK, AR - A $250 million bond proposal for higher education is showing strong support in a new opinion poll.

The item on the November 7 ballot divide $150 million among state colleges and universities and use $100 million to pay off existing bond debt.

In a poll taken by Opinion Research Associates of Little Rock for Stephens Media, 70 percent of respondents say they support the proposal.  Nineteen percent say they plan to vote against it, with ten percent undecided.

Opinion Research conducted a telephone survey of 500 registered voters September 26-30.  The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

The education bond question was voted down previously when it was on the ballot with a highway bond proposal that drew high profile opposition and was soundly defeated.
