LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas AARP says telephone callers claiming they represent the organization and are conducting a survey in the governor's race do not represent Arkansas AARP.
A spokeswoman for the organization, Pat Jones, says the group received reports from Arkansans that callers claiming to represent the group asked them which candidate they supported for governor and asked "are you sure" when the person answering gave their choice.
But AARP Arkansas says it never asks about a voter's choice for a race when making educational calls on issues important to the organization.
Jones says the organization is investigating the reports but does not know their origin, what areas are being called, or the number of callers reached by the fake representatives.
