State Medicaid Seeks Funds for Dental Care

LITTLE ROCK, AR - State Medicaid officials want to bring dental services back into the program, a move that could restore a cut made in the late 1980s.

Medicaid officials are asking for $2.7 million in additional state funding to bring back the service.

Since the dental services were cut, Medicaid has paid only for extractions in extreme situations, such as to combat a life-threatening infection or when teeth are extremely deteriorated.

Last fiscal year, the program covered extractions for 180 adults.
