LITTLE ROCK, AR - Former U.S. Senator and Arkansas Governor David Pryor has been taken into surgery this morning in Little Rock.

Pryor was admitted to UAMS Monday with chest pains.  The office of his son, U.S. Senator Mark Pryor says surgery has begun for David Pryor.

Pryor spokesman Michael Teague says David Pryor is having open heart surgery.

The younger Pryor says his father has remained physically fit since open heart surgery 14 years ago.

Pryor was at his Little Rock home Monday night when he reportedly noticed tightness and pressure in his chest and went to the UAMS emergency room.  Teague said that doctors yesterday discovered major blockage.
