Jonesboro School District Battling Bats at Hillcrest Elementary

JONESBORO, AR - Things are getting a little "batty" at one Jonesboro Elementary School, and it has nothing to do with Halloween being just around the corner.

Employees at Hillcrest Elementary recently found a small colony of bats trapped within a 2,000 square foot section of the campus's courtyard, and school district officials have been working to get rid of the pests.  "What we are finding is two or three at a time.  We're not finding large-scale infestation in the building, so they are a nuisance and that's why we are trying to get rid of them," said Clint Byard, the district's Facilities Director.

The bats are a common brown Brazillian species which feed on mosquitoes, and are quite common to northeast Arkansas.
