LITTLE ROCK, AR - Work is underway on a $165 million expansion at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.  Ground was broken yesterday on the project that will add 500,000 square feet to the campus hospital.  The project is part of a $330 million campus construction program.

The work will add a new emergency department, along with 174 adult beds.  Once complete, the hospital will have 390 private adult patient rooms, plus 64 neonatal beds.

Other facilities, including a new clinical and radiology department, are being expanded.
