FORREST CITY, AR - Alarmed by an increase in the number of robberies at convenience stores, Forrest City police increased patrols around the stores during the past month and have seen a sharp drop in calls to the business. From early August to early September, stores reported eight armed robberies and one attempted robbery. Since September 6, the number dropped to zero as the city's 35 police officers maintained a greater presence.
Council members last week approved additional overtime for the officers, who will work all hours.
