Holt, DeLay Bring "Immigration Tour" to Jonesboro

OCTOBER 16, 2006 - Posted at 3:41 p.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Republicans Gunner DeLay and Jim Holt have begun a two-day tour of Arkansas to promote their plans to combat illegal immigration.

DeLay is running to become Arkansas attorney general.  He says he will use the state's Medicaid Fraud Unit to investigate employers, as well as amend the state's Unfair Trade Practices Act to bring lawsuits against Arkansas businesses that employ illegals.

Holt is running for lieutenant governor.  He says he wants a ban on public benefits for illegal immigrants.

The two appeared this afternoon at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport, where about 20 Craighead County Republicans turned out in support.
