Ten Region 8 Law Enforcement Agencies to Benefit from Money for Bulletproof Vests

WASHINGTON - The federal government has awarded $168,000 to go toward the purchase of 590 bulletproof vests for 52 police departments in Arkansas, including ten in Region 8.  The federal government pays up to 50 percent of the cost of each vest.  The money comes from the Justice Department's Bulletproof Vest Partnership program.

The Arkansas congressional delegation listed the Arkansas cities and counties that will be receiving the funds.  The ten in Region 8 include...

-Cherokee Village

-Forrest City

-Izard County

-Jonesboro

-Monette

-Mountain View

-Osceola

-Stone County

-West Memphis.
