JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missourians have a new way to check their neighborhoods for sex offenders.
A new Highway Patrol Internet site can create a map of every registered sex offender living within one-thousand feet to 15 miles of a particular address.
The updated Web site also includes information about the vehicles that registered sex offenders drive and the offenders' physical description -- like their height, weight, tattoos or scars.
The extra information is a result of a law enacted earlier this year.
But a Supreme Court ruling earlier this year also means information is lacking about some sex offenders. The court said people convicted before the list originally took effect in 1995 can no longer be required to register.
