Staph Situation Improving at Westside

JONESBORO, AR - Some good news this afternoon from the Westside School District.

Superintendent James Best told K8 News this afternoon that today brought only one new confirmed case of staph at the school, and the better news is that of the four students suspected of having staph yesterday - all four of those cases tested negative for the illness.

Best says the new positive was in the 8th grade.

Late last week, the district was forced to temporarily close the campus and cease all school functions in the wake of an outbreak that hospitalized one student at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Best says Westside officials will continue to closely monitor the situation.
