Crittenden County Agrees to Pay $285,000 Employee Pay Settlement

OCTOBER 26, 2006 - Posted at 12:21 p.m. CDT

MARION, AR - Crittenden County has agreed to pay more than a quarter-million dollars to current and former employees who sued over unpaid overtime and regular pay.

The Crittenden County Quorum Court agreed yesterday to pay $285,000 to more than 100 people who sued.  The workers claimed the county shorted the employees two weeks pay in 2004.

The county planned for 26 pay periods in 2005, rather than 27.  In December of 2005, the county had exhausted its payroll budget, and employees received a lump-sum cost-of-living raise rather than go to trial.

The settlement must now be approved by a federal judge.
