Jonesboro Man Admits to Scamming Insurance Companies

OCTOBER 30, 2006 - Posted at 4:03 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - A Jonesboro man has pleaded guilty in Craighead County to his part in an insurance scam.

State Insurance Department officials say Curtis Moore entered the negotiated guilty plea to one count of felony theft in a scam that bilked insurance companies out of almost $353,000.  As part of the scam, state regulators say, Moore and three others filed forged paperwork with insurance companies for injuries that did not happen.  One was a claim for surgical removal of an eye on two different occasions.

Moore's co-defendants...Michael Gates, Brenton Gibson, and Casiprin Gibson, were previously convicted.  The four are to make $234,000 in restitution.
