Gas Bills to Drop for Some Southeast Missouri Customers

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - About 57,000 natural gas customers of Atmos Energy will see lower bills.  That's the word from the Missouri Public Service Commission.

The drop reflects changes in wholesale costs of natural gas and adjustments in the way the company handles charges for gas costs.

The company's nearly 33,000 customers in southeast Missouri have been paying about $1.11 per 100 cubic feet of gas.  But that rate is dropping to about 95 cents.

Rates for Atmos customers elsewhere also are falling.  Nearly 15,000 northeast Missouri customers can expect rates to drop by about six cents per 100 cubic feet of gas, to 84 cents.
