McCaskill Campaign Swings Through Southeast Missouri

NOVEMBER 1, 2006 - Posted at 4:00 p.m. CST

NEWBURG, MO - Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill says a presidential campaign visit for her opponent, Senator Jim Talent, shows how connected Talent is to the Washington establishment.

President Bush is scheduled to be in Springfield and Joplin Friday for Talent campaign events.

McCaskill says along with visits from other national GOP figures, the Bush visit shows that Talent's campaign is about Washington, not Missouri.

McCaskill made the remarks during a campaign swing through southeast Missouri today, when she also emphasized her criticism of the Iraq war.

Talent spokesman Rich Chrismer said the senator appreciates the support of the president and other top-ranking Republicans.  He also noted that some top Democrats, including Howard Dean, have campaigned for McCaskill.

Talent had no public campaign events scheduled today.
