ST. LOUIS, MO - Politicians and preparedness experts are gathering in St. Louis today for a conference to discuss readiness in case of a future earthquake along the New Madrid fault.

The two-day event is at the Millennium Hotel.

A quake along the New Madrid fault could strike a region from Memphis, Tennessee, to St. Louis.

An earthquake centered near the Missouri Bootheel town of New Madrid produced the largest earthquakes ever in North America between December of 1811 and January of 1812.
