NOVEMBER 2, 2006 - Posted at 4:20 p.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A legislative panel has endorsed the proposed budget of the Arkansas Racing Commission.  The commission will have the added duty of regulating expanded gambling at race tracks in Hot Springs and West Memphis and has proposed hiring eleven new full-time employees.

The commission converted a group of part-time workers to full time in the proposed $1.3 million two-year budget.

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs and Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis won approval to add electronic games of skill.

The Racing Commission has already approved regulations for the new games, which are expected to be launched at the tracks on November 18.
