MoDot Seeks to Improve Safety at Intersections in Butler and Stoddard Counties

SIKESTON, MO - MoDot is partnering with the Federal Highway Administration on a research project designed to improve safety at two intersections in southeast Missouri.

The project is designed for intersections where traffic on one route stops and there is no stop sign on the intersecting roadway.  The lanes on the thru traffic route will be reduced in width to nine feet by painting an island between the lanes.  Cutting rumblestrips in the pavement on both sides of the lane is also included.

Work is expected to get underway next week, weather permitting on intersections at Route 153/114 in Stoddard County and Route 160/67 in Butler County.
