WEST MEMPHIS, AR - A widower is asking for the return of his wife's ashes, which were stolen from his recreational vehicle in West Memphis.

Police say a fire safe was stolen from the vehicle some time between Saturday and Wednesday.  The owner, John Elliott of West Memphis, says there was nothing of value in the safe, just documents and the ashes.  He says he's afraid the thief will throw out the ashes and that he wants them back...no questions asked.

Elliott says he has a home at Horseshoe Lake but travels in the RV full time.

West Memphis police are investigating and asking anyone with information about the theft to call authorities.
