LITTLE ROCK, AR - It's dega vu all over again for Mike Beebe. After 20 years in the state Legislature, Beebe will return to the state Capitol...this time, as Governor.
He visited with legislators yesterday and is preparing for his move into the state's top office next year. Beebe named former state Senator Morril Harriman the chief of his transition team and as his chief of staff in the governor's office.
The first glimpse of the challenges facing Beebe and the Legislature comes today when state officials release their revenue forecast for the biennium. He also plans to hold his first news conference as governor-elect.
Still, the Democrat says the transition to the governor's office will be an adjustment and he and legislators will have to figure out how to best carry out how to best carry out the business of the state.
Harriman resigned as president of the Poultry Federation to head up Beebe's transition team. The team co-chairs include state Representative Joyce Elliott of Little Rock; former Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation President Emon Mahony; attorney Ark Monroe and retired businessman Don Nelms.
