Trooper Injured in Morning Traffic Accident in Jackson County

NEWPORT, AR - An Arkansas State Trooper stationed to the Troop B headquarters in Newport was injured this morning when his police cruiser was struck by a dump truck.

Few other details are available at this time, but investigating trooper Billy Calderon said the accident occured at approximately 9 a.m. on Arkansas 37, nine miles west of Tuckerman.  The injured trooper has been identified as David Dixon, although the extent of his injuries are not known at this time.  Trooper Calderon said Dixon was taken to a Newport hospital.
