Forrest City Woman Found Dead in Burned House

NOVEMBER 17, 2006 - Posted at 7:29 a.m. CST

FORREST CITY, AR - The body of an elderly woman was found yesterday inside a rural residence partially damaged by fire.  The woman was identified by the St. Francis County Sheriff's Department as Ora Lee Coffee.  She is believed to have been in her 80s.

The Forrest City Fire Department received a call about 7:50 a.m. regarding a fire at Coffee's home northwest of Forrest City's industrial park.  When firefighters arrived, the fire had burned itself out.  Forrest City Fire Department Captain Greg Gray said the fire was contained to the bedroom because the room's door and windows were shut.  Gray said investigators don't know when the fire started.  Coffee's body was being sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
