PARAGOULD, AR - A large amount of money flew into Paragould this morning.

Representatives with the Arkansas Aeronautics Board flew into the Paragould Municipal Airport at 11 a.m. and presented airport officials with a grant check totaling $202,999.  The money is to be used for a new "T" hangar at the facility, also known as Kirk Field.

"It's a great thing," said Airport Commission Secretary Lance Winn.  "You know, in communities like Paragould, it would be difficult for us to be able to accomplish projects of this magnitude on our own without the state's partnership, and this has enabled us to get our airport up closer to the kind of standards that the city of Paragould deserves, and that's what we're shooting for."

The Airport Commission hopes to build an additional hangar next year, while also replacing its "fuel farm" and upgrading runway lighting.
