Presidential Pardon Goes to Missouri Turkeys

NOVEMBER 22, 2006 - Posted at 8:08 a.m. CST

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - The turkeys getting traditional Thanksgiving pardons today are Missourians.

President Bush will present the pardons during a Rose Garden ceremony.

The main turkey and an alternate are from a flock near Monett.

Mike Briggs, president of Springfield-based Willow Brook Foods, got to choose the turkeys because he's this year's chairman of the National Turkey Foundation.

After the ceremony, the birds will be on display at Disneyland.
