Governor-Elect Announces Heads of Four State Agencies

NOVEMBER 22, 2006 - Posted at 4:02 p.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor-elect Mike Beebe announced four appointments this afternoon to lead state departments and agencies.

Beebe selected Dept. of Finance & Administration Director Richard Weiss, Arkansas Dept. of Education Commissioner Ken James, Arkansas State Police Director and Jonesboro native Colonel Steve Dozier and Workforce Services Director Artee Williams to continue their service to the state with their respective agencies.

"These people have the leadership and expert knowledge we need to help move our state forward.  They will be an important part of the team," Beebe said.  "As major department and agency heads, they've already set a high standard for the work they do.  By continuing their service, we'll work together for a positive future for Arkansas."

In the two weeks since the election, Beebe has been meeting individually with department and agency heads and organizing the transition for the next administration.  He will be meeting with department and agency heads in the weeks to come and will be announcing more dept. and agency heads in that time.
