JONESBORO, AR -- The two candidates running for the ward two position on the Jonesboro City Council have experience in that very position.

Candidate Fred Bowers served two terms from 1993-1994 and from 1997-1998.

Jim Hargis is just finishing up his first term as a city alderman.  Hargis says the city has accomplished many things during his tenure.

"One is solving drainage problems that were hurting people.  Creating long range plans to handle the drainage problem for years to come," said Hargis.

Bowers says he has seen the improvements in the past few years, but says he thinks the city can do more.

"The first thing I'd like to do if elected would be to get with Mayor Doug Formon and see what his plans are for the city of Jonesboro," said Bowers.

Both candidates are spending the last few days before the election getting the word out to potential voters.

"We have had a strong campaign of trying to contact people and encourage them to vote," said Hargis.

"I've been walking around talking to people to see what their ideas are," said Bowers.

Both of the candidates running for the ward two position on the city council say they have Jonesboro's best interest at heart, but the final decision will be up to you on nobember 28th.
